Comparing Helium 10 vs AMZ Tracker
Both Helium 10 and AMZ Tracker have excellent features to help you run your Amazon business.
Plus, the pricing plans for both are fairly comparative.
I’m going to compare the features for each tool in more detail so you can see which one you’ll find more useful. Plus, I’ll give you my opinion of the pros and cons of each one too.
#1: Product Research
Both Helium 10 and AMZ Tracker have chrome extensions that you can use for product research.
Also, Helium 10 has a tool called Black Box that allows you to search a database of over 450 million products.
Plus, there’s Trendster which lets you analyze products to see whether they’re seasonal or not.
We’ll look at these in more detail as well.
Helium 10 Xray Chrome Extension

I did a quick search on Amazon on ‘paint accessories’ and then launched the Xray extension.
As you can see, you get a good level of detail of the products that came up in the search.
You can use the filters on the column headings to sort in any way you want.
Here’s a quick rundown of other things you can do with this extension:
- Export the list as an image.
- Download the list as a CSV file.
- Select up to 10 ASINs to run a keyword search in Cerebro which is another Helium 10 tool.
- Hover over the ASIN to see an image of the product.
- Hover over the title to see a full description of the product.
AMZ Tracker Unicorn Smasher

Using the same search on Amazon, I launched Unicorn Smasher.
Here you can see the results.
You can filter them using the column headings. Also, you can:
- Filter the results by price, number of new sellers, variations, sales rank, estimated sales, estimated revenue, number of reviews, and rating.
- Download the list as a CSV file.
- Hover over the title to get an image of the product and a Keepa chart pop-up.
While both these extensions give you access to lots of information, I prefer the layout and functionality of Helium 10’s Xray. I believe it has greater functionality and provides more information than Unicorn Smasher.
Helium 10 Black Box

I took Black Box for a test run so that I could show you the functionality.
To use it you just select a category. I chose ‘tools & home improvement’ and then set some filters at the top.
Here’s what I chose:
- Monthly Revenue – $100 to $5000
- Review Count – 1 to 500 (if a product has at least 1 review, you know that it sold)
- Review rating – 4 to 5 (to ensure the products found are of decent quality)
As you can see the search returned over 200 products. In addition to the product search, you can also search on:
- Keywords
- Competitors
- Niche
- Product Targeting (Reverse ASIN lookup)
Helium 10 Trendster
This tool compares Amazon products with what’s happening on Google Trends.
This allows you to see whether a particular product is becoming more or less popular.
Or, whether it sells more often at certain times of the year.

Comparative Analysis
For product research, I think that Helium 10 wins hands down with the tools that they have.
These tools would be extremely useful if you source products through wholesalers.
They would also be useful for private-label sellers to develop new product ideas.
#2: Keyword Research
AMZ Tracker has two keyword research tools. These are based on Amazon search suggestions (read my full AMZ Tracker review).
Helium 10 has 3 tools for different types of keyword searches.
AMZ Tracker’s Keyword Research Tool

AMZ Tracker’s keyword research tool requires you to either select a product that you’re already tracking.
Or, you can enter a seed keyword that you want further suggestions for.
It’s a basic tool that will help you to discover extra keywords that you can add to your listings.
AMZ Tracker’s DeepWords

With DeepWords you can find long-tail keywords that your competitors may not be using.
It’s a simple-to-use keyword tool. One of the benefits of using this tool is that you can find keywords that Amazon customers are searching for but that don’t have many products available to service that demand.
Helium 10’s Magnet

I took Helium 10’s premier keyword tool, Magnet, for a test run using the term ‘protein powder’.
As you can see, the results are amazing. This information is far more comprehensive than what you get with the AMZ Tracker tools.
With Magnet, you also have the option to set different filters. I particularly like the Magnet IQ score.
This is based on the search volume vs the number of competing offers.
The higher the score, the better.
I did discover though, that with the free plan, you cannot sort the columns plus you only get 2 searches per day.
Helium 10’s Cerebro
Cerebro is a reverse ASIN lookup tool. Let’s give it a test.
I entered the ASIN from one of the protein powders above and this is the result.

As you can see, there’s a wealth of information here.
I particularly like the ‘frequently bought together’ result. This gives you lots of ideas for creating bundle listings.
I clicked on ‘view all frequently bought together’ and it took me to Black Box with a result of 204 products.

I can see some excellent possibilities for creating a lot of bundle listings from these.
Helium 10’s Misspellinator
This tool finds common misspellings that Amazon customers use to search for products.
I tested it with ‘protein powder’ and it found 2 results where Amazon does not autocorrect.

I then entered ‘protine powder’ into the Amazon search bar and came up with 405 results.

Interestingly, a lot of the products that came up were sold by Amazon themselves.
This indicates that they would be using the misspelling in their advertising keywords.
Comparative Analysis
In comparing the keyword research tools, I would say that Helium 10’s tools give you a lot more information.
But, if you’re just looking for simplified keyword research, then AMZ Tracker’s tools will do the job.
#3: Listing Optimization
Both AMZ Tracker and Helium 10 offer on-page listing optimization tools.
These help you to ensure your listings are fully optimized.
AMZ Tracker’s On-Page Analyzer Tool

This gives you recommendations to use immediately to fully optimize your listings.
AMZ Tracker’s help section also has a complete guide on how to optimize your listing.
Helium 10’s On-Page Evaluation Results

The results are very similar to AMZ Tracker’s tool and give you recommendations to follow.
Helium 10 also has three extra tools that will help with your listing optimization.
Helium 10’s Frankenstein

This tool helps you to clean up your list of keywords and to identify the most searched ones.
In turn, this will allow you to ensure that you have all the most important keywords in your listing.
Helium 10’s Scribbles

Scribbles is a listing creation tool that takes you through the process of creating a listing.
It ensures that you include the best keywords in the prominent sections of your listings.
These include the title, description, and bullet points.

Helium 10’s Index Checker

This tool will let you discover if your listings are being indexed by Amazon.
This is especially useful for new listings.
With this tool, you can also check competing products to learn what keywords they’re ranking for.
Comparative Analysis
For simple on-page listing optimization, AMZ Tracker’s tool gives you enough information.
But, if you want to dig a little deeper, then you can’t go past the tools offered by Helium 10.
These tools will help you to create the best listing possible.
#4: Product Promotion
Obviously, when you take a new product to Amazon that doesn’t have any sales record, you need tools to help promote it. Both Helium 10 and AMZ Tracker have tools to let you do just that.
These are primarily for private-label sellers and creators of new products.
Both companies do handle product promotion very differently.
Helium 10’s Landing Page Builder

The landing page builder allows you to build landing pages.
You can use these on other platforms such as your own website. You can also use them in paid advertisements on social media and email campaigns.
Once created, you can integrate your landing pages with other apps and marketplaces.
These include Google Analytics, Facebook, and Zapier.
Helium 10’s PPC Automation Tool

This tool allows you to automate your Amazon PPC campaigns.
This will ensure that you’re getting the best value for your advertising dollar.
It also gives you visual analytics so that you can see at a glance how well your ads are performing.
AMZ Tracker’s Vipon
Vipon is one of the largest Amazon deal sites.
This allows you to promote your products by creating coupons.
You can then make these available to over 2,000,000 registered shoppers.

To use Vipon, all you have to do is create coupons for your Amazon products.
You can do this right within the AMZ Tracker dashboard.
This makes it really simple.
Once you’ve created your coupon, your promotion will be live on Vipon.
These will then attract prospective customers to your Amazon listings.
Comparative Analysis
I think for quick and easy product promotion outside of Amazon, AMZ Tracker wins hands down with their Vipon deals site. It’s simple to use and doesn’t need you to set up your own website or run paid ad campaigns on other platforms.
#5: Keyword Rank Tracking
Checking that your products are showing up in Amazon search results is important for your sales.
That’s why you need to track the keywords that you’re using in your listings.
Both AMZ Tracker and Helium 10 have very effective keyword rank tracking tools.
Bear in mind that for any of these tools to work, you’ll have to connect them to your Amazon account via an API.
Helium 10’s Keyword Tracker

This tool allows you to track your most important keywords.
You can then see the results in the easy-to-use dashboard.
It’s also very useful that you can log any changes you make to see what’s working and what’s not.

AMZ Tracker’s Keyword Tracking Tool

This tool also allows you to track where your products are ranking in Amazon search results.
Also, you can easily add new products to the tracker right on the dashboard.
Plus, you can track any changes you make to see which ones are the most effective.
Comparative Analysis
I think that both tools are highly effective in keeping track of your product keywords.
Both use intuitive dashboards that allow you to make changes and track them.
However, the biggest difference between the two tools is the value you get for the cost.
Here’s what I mean:
- Helium 10 allows you to track 2,500 keywords on the $97 per month plan. These limits increase with each higher-priced plan.
- AMZ Tracker allows you to track 110 keywords on the $50 per month plan and only 500 on the $100 per month plan.
This would certainly indicate that Helium 10 offers far better value for money.
#6: Competitor Analysis
Competitor analysis is done with the Keyword Tracking tool in AMZ Tracker.
However, Helium 10 has a separate tool for this called Market Tracker.

However, Helium 10 has a separate tool for this called Market Tracker.
AMZ Tracker’s Competitor Analysis
As mentioned, competitor analysis is handled by the keyword tracking tool in AMZ Tracker.
Here’s how you would check competitor keywords in the tool:

Helium 10’s Market Tracker
Market Tracker allows you to create different markets for the niches that you sell in.
To use the tool, you need to choose a niche market, select up to 5 keywords, and then add some ASINs of products in that niche. The tool then goes into ‘processing’ mode and will advise you when it’s complete.

I ran a test for ‘Gourmet Chocolate Market’.
It’s been processing now for about 12 hours and I’m still waiting for the results.
Comparative Analysis
If you just want a simple tool that does everything in one spot, then AMZ Tracker will work for you.
Plus, you get the results quickly.
On the other hand, it seems that Helium 10’s Market Tracker does a very comprehensive analysis of the market. This is because it does take quite a long time to process the results.
#7: Inventory Management
For both AMZ Tracker and Helium 10, inventory management is handled by their individual profit & sales analytics tools. Of course, this requires you to connect your Amazon account via an API.
AMZ Tracker’s Tracker M
This tool is available both as a mobile app and also as a web application.
Here’s a snapshot of the data you’ll see:

As you can see, for inventory management, it just gives you basic information as to how many units you have in stock. You can, of course, get this same information by going into Seller Central and going to your inventory management section.
I think this tool is more valuable as a profit and sales analyzer rather than an inventory management tool.
Helium 10’s Profits
As you can see, for inventory management, it just gives you basic information as to how many units you have in stock. You can, of course, get this same information by going into Seller Central and going to your inventory management section.
I think this tool is more valuable as a profit and sales analyzer rather than an inventory management tool.

It does say that inventory management is ‘coming soon’.
But, it does appear to be available when you go to Helium 10’s main website.
What impressed me the most was what I saw when I hovered over the blue sidebar.
Here’s a screenshot:

This looks like a high-level sales, profits, and inventory management solution when you compare it to AMZ’s Tracker M.
I particularly like the fact that it shows your inventory level as well as giving you suggestions on how many units to restock. This is invaluable once you have more than a couple of hundred SKUs.
And remember, this is included with all the pricing plans.

Comparative Analysis
As far as inventory management is concerned, Helium 10 comes way out in front.
Especially for Amazon sellers who have multiple hundreds of SKUs in their Amazon stores.
So for sellers who source their products wholesale, Helium 10 is definitely the best.
On the other hand, if you’re a private-label seller and you only have a handful of products, you may prefer the simplicity that AMZ’s Tracker M supplies.
#8: Additional Tools
Apart from all the tools mentioned above, both AMZ Tracker and Helium 10 have a few additional tools that most sellers will find useful. These include:
- Hijack Alerts that let you know if something has changed on your listing.
- Negative review alerts
- Refund Reimbursement assistance – only provided by Helium 10.
- Follow-up email automation
- Profitability Calculator – using Helium 10’s chrome extension
- Stock level for competitor sellers – using Helium 10’s chrome extension
#9: Pricing
Both Helium 10 and AMZ Tracker have 4 different pricing levels.
These depend on the size of your business and the functionality that you need.
Here are AMZ Tracker’s pricing levels:
As you can see, their monthly plans start from $50 but this does give you limited accessibility. By the way, you can check our dedicated page for AMZ Tracker discounts.
In comparison, here are Helium 10’s pricing plans:
Helium 10 does have a free plan but this gives you very limited access to some of the tools.
In saying that, I was able to do all the testing of some of the different tools with just the free version.
When comparing these 2 pricing structures, I believe that you get far more for your money with Helium 10 (don’t forget to check out our Helium 10 coupons page!).
#10: Customer Support
Both of these platforms offer 24/7 support for customers.
Both also have online chat support.
Also, both have contact forms that you can fill in if you need extra assistance.
They also both have extensive knowledge bases with help and information for getting the best out of the tools. Helium 10 also has a regular podcast if you want to learn on the go.
Final Words
As an Amazon seller myself, I source most of our products from wholesale suppliers and distributors.
Currently, our Amazon store has over 400 SKUs so that’s a lot of products to manage on a day-to-day basis.
So, from my own perspective, I would choose Helium 10 over AMZ Tracker.
I think Helium 10 offers a lot more useful tools for the price of the monthly subscription.
I also feel that the tools go more into depth and give you a lot more information.
On the other hand, if you’re a private-label seller who only has a handful of SKUs, you may prefer the simplicity of AMZ Tracker. I also think that AMZ’s Vipon is a better choice for promoting your products outside of Amazon.
So, my recommendations are:
Use Helium 10 if:
- You source a large number of products using wholesale suppliers or via retail or online arbitrage.
- You have a large number of SKUs to maintain daily.
- You jump on existing listings to vie for the Buy Box.
- You want a high level of detail in the tools you use.
Use AMZ Tracker if:
- You’re a private-label seller and only have a handful of products.
- You like the simplicity of not having too many tools.
- You like your information to be kept simple and don’t need a high level of detail.
- You want the ability to promote your products on a popular deals marketplace to get more sales and reviews.
Create a Thriving Business on Amazon with Helium 10. Start, run, and grow your business with all the tools, training, and expertise you need.
