Amazon Creator Connections lets eligible sellers pay creators a bonus commission on qualifying sales. The big number to understand is the $5,000 minimum budget. You authorize that commission ceiling, but unspent budget is not billed. Before you launch, check whether each extra order would leave enough money in your business.
Campaign setting | What it means for you |
|---|---|
At least 10% commission | Add the bonus to your product costs, Amazon fees and fulfillment costs. |
$5,000 minimum budget | Be able to fund the full commission cap, even though unused budget is not billed. |
30 to 365 days | Choose dates your inventory and offer can support. |
24-hour editing window | Check the products, rate and budget immediately after creating the campaign. |
These limits come from Amazon's campaign setup instructions and Creator Connections brand guide.
Check Your Access and Budget First
Access depends on your advertising account and Brand Registry role. Check both before writing a creator brief. You also need to be comfortable funding the full commission budget. A campaign may spend less than its cap. Low participation is not a reliable way to control spending.
The right account: Amazon specifies a US advertising account based in the United States, China or Hong Kong.
The right brand role: You must be registered in Brand Registry as the brand representative or an authorized reseller.
Access and terms: Accept the program terms and check the relevant user's permissions.
Products ready to promote: Have eligible catalog products, adequate stock, accurate listings and a margin calculation for each selected item.
Open Seller Central > Advertising > Creator Connections. If the option is missing, ask the account administrator to check Settings > User Permissions > the user > Creator Connections. New advertiser access can take several days.
If your account appears eligible and permissions are correct, contact Amazon support. Check Amazon's eligibility and access guidance before troubleshooting the campaign itself.
When a Direct Creator Agreement Fits Better
Creator Connections works best when you can let creators decide whether and how to participate. A launch built around named talent needs more control. If you need one specific person to publish a demonstration on a fixed date, agree that work directly. The same applies to content approval and reuse rights.
Margin too thin? Rework the offer if even a 10% bonus leaves too little per order.
Budget too large? Wait if a $5,000 commission commitment exceeds what you can fund.
Need a guaranteed video? Agree the creator, fee, deadline and rights in a separate contract.
Stock or pricing unstable? Resolve those issues before inviting promotion.
How to Set Up an Amazon Creator Connections Campaign
Prepare your product selection, margin calculation and creator message before opening the campaign form. That makes the submission easier to check. Amazon gives you 24 hours to edit or cancel after creation. Use that window to confirm the saved settings match the commitment you intended.
Step 1: Pick a Focused Product Group
Start with one product or a small related group that gives creators a clear use case. A salad spinner and storage containers fit a meal-prep campaign. Adding phone chargers and dog treats makes the message harder to explain. Select only your own eligible products for the campaign.
Check the variation, price, eligibility and stock status of each item. A competing ASIN can help with research, but it is not something to add to your own campaign.
Amazon's example separates product eligibility from stock status. Check both before adding an ASIN. Amazon brand guide, page 10.
In Amazon’s example above, the selector distinguishes Add, Add variations and Ineligible products. Stock is a separate check: an item can also be marked Out of stock.
Agree an inventory buffer with whoever handles replenishment. If normal sales already use most available stock, make room for extra demand before inviting promotion.
Step 2: Calculate Your Commission Ceiling
Set the commission from your remaining margin, using the customer price after discounts. Subtract product costs, fulfillment, Amazon fees and expected returns first. Then decide how much contribution each order must leave. That figure gives you a commission ceiling before you choose an attractive-looking percentage.
Worked example: a $40 kitchen product with a $4 discount. The customer pays $36. These illustrative costs are worksheet inputs, not a quote for Amazon fees:
$8.00 product cost
$5.40 Amazon selling fees
$5.50 fulfillment
$1.10 expected returns and other variable costs
Total variable costs are $20. That leaves $16 per order before the bonus. Amazon calculates the bonus on the net customer price, as explained in its commission guidance.
Bonus rate | Bonus on a $36 order | Contribution left |
|---|---|---|
10% | $3.60 | $12.40 |
15% | $5.40 | $10.60 |
25% | $9.00 | $7.00 |
Contribution means the money left after these variable costs. Fixed campaign costs and business overhead still need to be paid.
Keep sample shipping, separate creator fees and staff time in a campaign-cost total. The per-order calculation does not automatically cover them.
Step 3: Set a Budget You Can Fund
Treat the budget as the maximum commission commitment you are willing to fund. Amazon requires at least $5,000, and unused budget is not invoiced. Samples and separately agreed fees sit outside that amount. Choose the cap with those extra costs in mind, then align the campaign dates with your stock.
At a 15% bonus, a $5,000 cap corresponds to about $33,333 in qualifying net sales before adjustments. That is $5,000 ÷ 0.15, not a sales forecast. For example:
$0 qualifying sales → $0 commission. The $5,000 budget remains unused.
$3,600 qualifying sales → $540 commission. That leaves $4,460 of the budget unused.
$28,800 qualifying sales → $4,320 commission. That leaves $680 unused.
Choose a duration of 30 to 365 days. Match the dates to your offer and inventory. Do not increase the budget simply to make the campaign look more attractive. Amazon explains the controls in its setup guide and unused-budget treatment in its brand guide.
Step 4: Give Creators a Brief They Can Use
Help a creator picture a useful demonstration for their audience. Explain who the product suits, which facts you can support and how to ask questions. Offer creative direction while leaving room for an honest opinion. A concise, practical message is easier to act on than a list of promotional claims.
Amazon’s documented flow is Create Request > Affiliate+ campaign. Complete the name, message, dates, budget, commission and products. The limits are 80 characters for the campaign name and 5,000 for the message.
Example for a fictional meal-prep brand: copy the message below, then adapt the product, audience and sample arrangements.
Replace every example detail with something true for your product. Do not add claims about dishwasher safety, warranties or health benefits unless you can support them.
Creators must disclose paid relationships under Amazon's program policies. Allow honest opinions; requests for five-star customer reviews do not belong in the brief.
Step 5: Check the Saved Request Within 24 Hours
Review the saved campaign immediately after submitting it. Confirm the ASINs, commission, budget and dates against your worksheet. Assign one person to approve the final settings before the 24-hour editing window closes. After that, do not assume you can reduce the budget, change the commission or cancel.
What needs changing | Within the first 24 hours | After that window |
|---|---|---|
Commission, ASINs or launch plan | Correct the campaign or cancel it. | Do not assume those settings can be changed or the campaign canceled. |
Creator message | Edit the message. | Amazon permits message updates. |
More time or budget | Check the revised commitment. | You may extend the end date or increase the budget. |
A budget you cannot fund | Correct or cancel before the window closes. | Do not rely on reducing the budget or stopping the campaign. |
Save the approved settings with your margin worksheet. Amazon details the available changes in its campaign management guidance.
Once a creator accepts, use campaign messaging for questions and sample arrangements. Agree the details before sending a product, and record the sample and shipping cost separately.
Amazon's messaging illustration shows the conversation list and composer. You can message creators who have accepted your campaign. Amazon brand guide, page 12.
Step 6: Check Profit Alongside Reported Sales
Creator Connections reports campaign sales, spend, orders and clicks. Use those numbers to calculate what remains after costs. Then consider how many sales the campaign actually added. A sale attributed to a creator is not automatically an extra sale you would otherwise have missed.
Amazon uses a 24-hour click attribution window and reports at campaign level. It does not offer order-level reconciliation with Seller Central’s order management center. A submitted content URL is not required for attribution. See Amazon's reporting guidance.
Export the figures consistently and allow for shipment, cancellation and payment adjustments. Record samples, separate creator fees and staff costs alongside them. Missing content links alone do not prove that no promotion happened.
A 6.67 ROAS does not settle the profit question. At a 15% commission, sales ÷ commission is about 6.67 by arithmetic. It tells you neither your product margin nor how many sales the campaign added.
Return to the hypothetical $36 product: 100 qualifying orders produce $3,600 sales and $540 commission. Add $300 fixed campaign costs. Here is why the interpretation matters:
View of the same campaign | Calculation | Result |
|---|---|---|
Contribution associated with all 100 credited orders | 100 × $16 before-bonus contribution − $540 commission − $300 fixed costs | $760 |
Extra contribution if only 40 orders were caused by the campaign | 40 × $16 before-bonus contribution − $540 commission − $300 fixed costs | −$200 |
The second row is a hypothetical scenario, not something the attribution report proves. Under these assumptions, at least 53 of the 100 credited orders must be additional to cover $840 of commission and fixed costs.

Common Creator Connections Mistakes to Avoid
Most expensive mistakes start with an expectation the program does not promise. Joining a campaign does not guarantee a video, and a commission payment does not transfer content rights. Keep your campaign settings, creator agreements and cost worksheet consistent. Use the checks below before committing to an offer.
Mistake | A better operating decision |
|---|---|
Expecting to choose or reject every participant | Amazon's program lets eligible creators opt in. Use a separate direct agreement when named talent is essential. |
Treating an accepted campaign as a guaranteed deliverable | Agree any required post, deadline or revision process separately. |
Assuming you can reuse a creator's video | The creator retains content rights. Agree paid usage, editing rights and duration before reuse. |
Judging success only by ROAS | Include unit costs, samples and fixed fees. Consider how many attributed orders were additional. |
Paying commission on a discount you forgot to model | Use the price after discounts and recalculate the remaining margin. |
Treating a missing content link as proof of no promotion | Submitted content URLs are not required for attribution. Check campaign reporting and ask the creator. |
Expecting bonus commission on another seller's order | If the customer buys a different seller's SKU, Amazon says that order does not qualify for your campaign. |
Amazon's brand guide explains participation, editorial freedom and content ownership. Its commission and reporting rules explain which seller's order qualifies. Make those limits part of your launch decision.
Use Spreesy to Research Product Fit
Spreesy helps you investigate whether a creator already covers products like yours. Search a competing ASIN and inspect the recommendations behind each match. The OXO salad spinner, ASIN B00004OCKR, provides a kitchen-product example. Treat these matches as research leads, then check the actual content before approaching anyone.
This ASIN search returned 1,132 influencer matches. Video, photo and product-list counts can overlap; the result is a research pool, not a forecast of social reach.
Open the recommendation. Does the match come from a video, photo or idea list? A saved product differs from a useful demonstration.
Check the audience and recent content. Look for cooking or meal-prep coverage and a reason your product would interest those viewers.
Choose the right contact route. Use published business contacts for a relevant proposal. Message accepted Creator Connections participants through Amazon.
Use Spreesy to find Amazon influencers who already recommend competing products. Inspect those recommendations and published contact routes to build a shortlist for your product.
Spreesy handles research; Amazon handles the campaign. A storefront match does not confirm Creator Connections eligibility, willingness to join or sales performance. Spreesy does not create the campaign or enroll a creator. Eligible creators still decide whether to join through Amazon.

Your Next Move: Finish One Campaign Worksheet
Choose one product with reliable costs and stock. Write down its net price, affordable commission, contribution per order and maximum budget. Add a factual creator message and assign someone to check the saved campaign. If the numbers work and the participation rules suit your plan, prepare the request in Seller Central.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible for Amazon Creator Connections?
Brands need an eligible US advertising account and the required Brand Registry role. Amazon lists accounts based in the United States, China or Hong Kong, with brand representative or authorized reseller status. Check account permissions if the option is missing.
Does Amazon Creator Connections cost $5,000 upfront?
No. The $5,000 minimum is a campaign commission budget, not an upfront participation fee. Amazon bills qualifying commissions, and unused budget is not billed. You should still be able to fund the full amount you authorize.
What commission should I offer in Creator Connections?
Amazon requires at least 10%; choose a rate your product margin can support. Calculate it against the customer price after discounts. Include product costs, Amazon fees, fulfillment and expected returns before deciding how much remains for commission.
Can I choose which creators join my campaign?
No. Eligible creators choose whether to participate in the standard Creator Connections workflow. You can see who joins and message accepted participants. If you need a specific person and fixed deliverables, arrange a separate direct agreement.
Can I cancel a Creator Connections campaign after it starts?
Amazon provides an initial 24-hour window to edit or cancel the campaign. After that window, its guidance allows message changes, budget increases and end-date extensions. Do not launch assuming you can later cancel, reduce the budget or change the commission.
Do creators have to publish a video or accept a sample?
Campaign participation does not guarantee a video or a sample arrangement. Discuss samples with the creator separately. Put any paid deliverable, deadline or content-usage rights into a separate agreement rather than assuming the commission offer includes them.
Is Affiliate+ the same option as Creator Connections?
Amazon's Creator Connections setup instructions tell brands to select an Affiliate+ campaign. The label appears after Create Request in the documented workflow. Follow the options available to your eligible brand account.
Does Spreesy manage Creator Connections campaigns?
No. Spreesy is a creator research tool, while Amazon manages Creator Connections campaigns. Use Spreesy to inspect product recommendations and published contact routes. A matching storefront does not establish Creator Connections eligibility or automatically enroll that creator.
