Amazon product video requirements depend on where you upload the file. For US seller-uploaded shoppable videos, Amazon lists MOV or MP4, up to 1080p, a 5 GB maximum and 1 to 12 minutes. Influencer videos and video ads follow separate workflows.
Start by choosing the destination. The detailed checklist below follows Amazon’s US shoppable-video help; your account’s upload screen is the final check before commissioning a file.
Your goal | Who submits the video | Which rules to use |
|---|---|---|
Add a product demonstration through Seller Central | You or your authorized team | Seller shoppable-video specifications |
Work with an Amazon influencer | The creator, through their own account | Creator content rules and the agreed deliverable |
Run a paid video ad | The advertiser | The selected ad format’s specifications |
Need someone to film your product? Use Spreesy to research Amazon product creators, inspect their recommendations and shortlist people with relevant demonstration experience. You still agree the video files, usage permission and delivery terms directly with the creator.

Check access and choose the video destination
Amazon’s US help supports video uploads from eligible sellers with or without Brand Registry. It specifies three months of selling. Confirm access in your account before hiring a creator. Choose the destination first. Seller uploads, creator publications and paid advertisements require different deliverables.
The seller video eligibility page does not make Brand Registry a universal requirement for this upload feature. Other placements, including A+ Content and Brand Stores, have their own access rules. Check the specific module before ordering an edit for it.
Have these ready before filming:
An exact product: The marketplace, ASIN and variation that the footage will show.
A submission owner: The seller, creator or advertiser responsible for uploading.
A working destination: Access to the relevant upload tool or advertising format.
An agreed deliverable: File dimensions, duration, permitted uses, deadline and revision terms.
For the wider budget and campaign choices, use our Amazon seller influencer campaign guide. This checklist focuses on preparing and checking the video itself.
Use the seller-upload specifications for seller uploads
Seller-uploaded shoppable videos support MOV or MP4 files up to 5 GB, with resolution up to 1080p. Amazon lists durations from 1 to 12 minutes and accepts horizontal or vertical layouts. Check the thumbnail separately: its file-size limit is measured in megabytes, not gigabytes.
Item | Amazon’s US seller-upload requirement | What to put in your brief |
|---|---|---|
Video format | MOV or MP4 | Name the final file type |
Video size | Maximum 5 GB | Check the exported file, not the editing project |
Resolution | Up to 1080p | For a horizontal example: 1920 × 1080 pixels |
Aspect ratio | 16:9 horizontal or 9:16 vertical | Choose the layout before filming |
Duration | 1 to 12 minutes | Give a target within the accepted range |
Custom thumbnail | JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP; under 5 MB | Request a clear product still as a separate file |
Product association | At least one ASIN | List the exact eligible products and variations |
These are the specifications in Amazon’s detailed shoppable-video guide. A 4K recording can supply source footage, but the seller-upload export should follow the listed resolution. Renaming a file from another extension to .mp4 does not convert it.
A practical export request: “Deliver one horizontal MP4 at 1920 × 1080, lasting 75 seconds, plus a JPEG thumbnail under 5 MB.” The 75-second target is an example within the listed range, not a performance benchmark.
Watch the exported file from beginning to end. Confirm that the first frame is useful, the product stays in view and speech finishes cleanly. Then inspect its file properties for dimensions, duration and size. A correct editing timeline does not guarantee a correct export.
For a vertical deliverable, ask for a composition filmed for that layout. Cropping a wide shot afterward can remove the hands or product detail that the demonstration needs.
Check the content before recording
A technically valid file can still fail content review. Check the product shown, every spoken claim and all visible text before filming. For a 75-second demonstration, keep the script focused on observable use. Remove outside links, promotional calls to action and material you lack permission to use.
Check | Useful content | Fix before submission |
|---|---|---|
Product match | The exact model, size and included accessories | A different variant presented as the listed product |
Demonstration | A clear view of normal use | Hands covering the feature or footage that never shows it working |
Claims | Accurate, supportable product information | Invented results, misleading comparisons or unsupported promises |
Text and branding | Product-focused labels where useful | External URLs, social watermarks, promotional messages or unrelated branding |
Audio and visuals | Clear speech, steady framing and sufficient light | Distortion, blur or a dark view of the product |
Third-party material | Your own work or material covered by permission | Unlicensed music, artwork or footage |
Amazon’s content and rights rules apply to the complete file, including the background. A song playing during filming or artwork behind the presenter can create a problem even when the product footage is yours.
Keep claims visible and modest. For a peeler, show the blade removing a strip of skin. Do not turn that shot into a claim that it is the fastest peeler available. If the claim needs testing, agree what evidence supports it before it enters the script.
Product-category rules also apply. A supplement, beauty product or safety item needs a claims review suited to that category. A video passing its file checks does not establish that every claim is acceptable.
If you use an AI-generated presenter: Amazon’s shoppable-video guidance requires metadata for entirely AI-generated, photorealistic people. The keyword is contains-synthetic-performer, placed in the file’s dc:subject (XMP) metadata field. Ask the editor to preserve it in the delivered export. This requirement does not apply simply because a real person’s footage was edited with AI.
Find a creator whose footage answers the buyer’s question
A relevant product video gives you evidence of a creator’s filming style, not permission to reuse their work. Our peeler search returned 213 shoppable-video matches on September 17. Inspect the actual demonstration before contacting someone, then specify whether you need a delivered file, creator publication or both.
The example uses the OXO Good Grips Swivel Vegetable Peeler, ASIN B00004OCIP. Spreesy returned 345 influencer matches overall, including 213 with shoppable videos. Content types can overlap; those counts are not a list of creators who have accepted paid work.
One result was Tesa Nicolanti, whose 42-second Amazon video shows the peeler beside a partly peeled cucumber. That is useful evidence for a brief about showing the blade in action. It does not establish her rates, availability or willingness to film your product.
A frame from Tesa Nicolanti’s peeler demonstration. Inspect the actual content before explaining why your sample may fit. Screenshot: September 17, 2026.
Use the example to make your selection concrete:
Can you see the action? Look for a view of the feature being used, rather than only a person talking.
Does the explanation fit your buyer? Check whether the creator answers the question your photos leave open.
Is the product match clear? Confirm the ASIN and the item visible in the recommendation.
Can you contact them appropriately? Use a published business contact route and ask about the work you need.
The 42-second example is an existing influencer video. It is not an example of a file meeting the 1-minute minimum listed for seller uploads. If you hire a creator for a Seller Central file, request an export that meets that destination’s requirements.
Amazon’s explanation of influencer videos describes Amazon-controlled distribution and review. A creator’s agreement to publish does not guarantee a position on your product page. If your team needs a reusable file, put that deliverable and its permitted uses in the agreement.
For the full search process, follow our Amazon influencer discovery walkthrough. When you have a candidate, adapt the paid demonstration or usage-rights message to your brief.
Give seller videos and ads separate deliverables
A seller demonstration and a Sponsored Products feature video can use related footage but need separate instructions. A 75-second seller video can explain use with narration. A 15-second feature clip must communicate through visible action, because Sponsored Products video removes audio. Specify both exports and their usage permission before filming.
Amazon’s Sponsored Products video specifications list MP4 or MOV, at least 7 seconds and a maximum 500 MB. They recommend horizontal 1920 × 1080 footage and remove audio. The public guide describes vertical support as a rollout; check your account before commissioning that layout.
Example deliverable | Seller-upload demonstration | Sponsored Products feature clip |
|---|---|---|
Purpose | Answer the buyer’s main usage questions | Show one feature working without narration |
Example length | 75 seconds | 15 seconds |
Example file | 1920 × 1080 MP4, within 5 GB | 1920 × 1080 MP4, within 500 MB |
Audio plan | Clear narration or useful product sound | The action must remain understandable with audio removed |
Handoff | Final video, thumbnail and permitted seller-upload use | Separate feature clip and explicit paid-ad usage permission |
Illustrative brief: Say your brand sells a vegetable peeler. You want one seller-upload demonstration and one optional ad cut. This is a planning example, not work commissioned from Tesa or another creator.
The shot timings total 75 seconds: 10 + 30 + 20 + 15. Adjust them to the product, but keep the approved deliverable within the destination’s limits. The optional 15-second cut is a separate file, not a request to submit the longer demonstration unchanged.
Check the ad’s silent cut on its own. If the clip needs a spoken explanation to make sense, reshoot the visible action. For a peeler, a close view of the blade moving along the vegetable communicates more than a silent presenter holding the packaging.
Sponsored Brands and other ad formats have their own rules. Use the Amazon Ads specification pages for the format you select; do not treat the Sponsored Products column as a universal advertising specification.
Submit the file and diagnose the right problem
Uploading, review and display are separate stages. Amazon lists an initial review of 1 to 7 business days for seller videos. Publication can take another three days after approval, with longer seasonal timelines possible. Check the actual status before changing your file, ASIN associations or product images.
Open the destination. In Seller Central, use Catalog → Upload and Manage Videos, or the Videos tab in Image Manager.
Select the final export. Confirm its file type, size, dimensions and duration before uploading.
Complete the fields. Enter a useful title, correct ASINs, supported language and thumbnail.
Check variation coverage. Extend the video to other variations only when the demonstration accurately represents them.
Submit and record the status. Keep the file version, submission date and eventual rejection message or publication status together.
The shoppable-video help page explains both upload routes. Use the route available in your account, and check its fields before handing the work to someone else.
Symptom | Check first | Next action |
|---|---|---|
The file will not upload | Format, size, duration, resolution and thumbnail | Export a corrected file and retry |
The video is rejected | The reason shown under Manage | Fix the named issue and submit a compliant version |
Published, but missing from the detail page | Publication timing and exact ASIN association | Allow the stated display window, then check the matching product and variation |
Missing on desktop for a softlines product | Whether the listing has six or more images | Apply Amazon’s category-specific image guidance if that condition matches |
Missing only on another marketplace | That marketplace’s listing, access and video availability | Check that store directly; do not assume global publication |

Do not remove listing images as your first troubleshooting step. Amazon’s detailed help limits the six-image desktop suppression note to softlines products. Check the product category and symptom before changing useful images. A rule for one category or screen should not become a blanket instruction for every listing.
If a video is rejected, keep the rejection wording with the file version that caused it. Send the editor a precise change request. “Remove the outside URL shown at 00:18” is actionable; “Amazon rejected it, try again” wastes a revision.
Check the live page on desktop and mobile after publication. Record what you observe without promising the same placement to every shopper. Amazon controls how content appears.
Finish with a usable handoff record
A complete handoff connects the final video to its product, permitted uses and submission owner. Keep the video and thumbnail together with the agreed terms. For a 2-file commission, record the seller export and ad cut separately. That helps your team upload the correct version.
Start with one product and one buyer question. Confirm the destination, fill out the brief and inspect a creator’s relevant work. Then agree the deliverable and permissions before sending a sample or paying for production.
If you are offering a sample with no content obligation, follow the product-seeding budget and checklist. A required video, delivery date or paid-ad license belongs in an agreed content arrangement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Amazon’s product video requirements?
For US seller uploads, Amazon lists MOV or MP4, up to 1080p, a 5 GB maximum and 1 to 12 minutes. Horizontal 16:9 and vertical 9:16 are supported. The footage must follow Amazon’s content rules. See the seller specifications; influencer videos and ads use separate requirements.
Do I need Brand Registry to upload an Amazon product video?
Brand Registry is not a universal requirement for this seller-upload feature. Amazon’s US help includes eligible brand-registered and non-brand-registered sellers after three months of selling. Confirm that your account can access the upload tool. Other placements have separate eligibility rules.
What resolution should an Amazon product video use?
For the seller-upload example, use a 1920 × 1080 horizontal export. Amazon’s seller help lists quality up to 1080p and supports 16:9 or 9:16. It does not establish 720p as a universal minimum across all video placements. Check the selected destination before exporting.
Do Amazon videos have to be 30 seconds long?
No single 30-second rule applies to all Amazon videos. Seller shoppable-video help lists 1 to 12 minutes. Sponsored Products feature videos start at 7 seconds. An influencer video or customer review belongs to a different workflow; do not borrow its duration as your seller-upload requirement.
What are the requirements for Sponsored Products video?
Sponsored Products feature videos use MP4 or MOV, last at least 7 seconds and have a 500 MB maximum. Amazon recommends horizontal 1920 × 1080 footage and removes audio. Follow the format-specific instructions and your account’s available options when ordering a file.
Why is my approved Amazon video not showing?
Check publication timing and the exact ASIN before changing the listing. Amazon lists up to three days after approval for seller-video publication. Its detailed troubleshooting page also identifies desktop suppression for softlines listings with six or more images. That category-specific note is not a reason to remove images from every product.
Can I download an influencer video and upload it myself?
You need permission covering the intended reuse. A public video or a recommendation of your product does not give you the creator’s file or usage rights. Agree seller-upload use, editing and any paid advertising separately, then obtain a compliant export.
Does hiring an influencer guarantee a video on my listing?
No. Amazon controls video review and display. Separate the creator’s promised deliverables from Amazon’s placement decisions. A contract can specify a video file or creator submission, but it cannot guarantee a particular carousel position, audience or sales result.
