Keepa wins on data: Sales Rank on every chart, 11 marketplaces, and a maintained extension. CamelCamelCamel stays the simplest free email-alert tool.

Keepa wins this comparison for anyone who sells on Amazon, and for most serious deal hunters too. Both tools chart Amazon price history for free. Keepa’s chart simply shows more: five data lines including Sales Rank, coverage of 11 marketplaces, and a €29 a month Pro tier for full seller data. CamelCamelCamel answers with three price lines, free email alerts, and no paid plan at all.

Price cannot split them, because the shopper use case costs nothing on either site. Maintenance can. I checked both Chrome extensions on the same July day: Keepa’s had shipped an update 29 days earlier and holds 4.67 stars from 5,117 ratings. The Camelizer’s last update landed in June 2024.

  • Selling or flipping: Keepa. Sales Rank history is how you read real demand.
  • Casual price alerts: CamelCamelCamel. No account, no cap, nothing to pay.
  • Amazon Australia: CamelCamelCamel is the only one of the two covering it.
  • The deeper story: my Keepa review explains its 4.7 rating and the Pro tier.

Keepa vs CamelCamelCamel at a Glance

Keepa and CamelCamelCamel overlap on exactly one job: charting Amazon price history so you never buy a fake discount. Keepa tracks 11 Amazon marketplaces and layers Sales Rank onto every chart. CamelCamelCamel tracks 8 marketplaces with price lines only. Both send free price-drop alerts by email.

What Each Tool Actually Is

Both are veterans, not startups. CamelCamelCamel launched in 2008, runs on a four-person team, and stays free by earning Amazon affiliate commissions on chart clickouts. Keepa is built by Keepa GmbH in Kemnath, Germany, and funds itself with €29 Pro subscriptions plus a paid data API.

CamelCamelCamel monitors three price types per product: Amazon itself, third-party New, and third-party Used, each with lowest, highest, and average flags. Watches work without an account, any public Amazon wishlist imports in one paste, and every product exposes RSS price feeds.

That chart is CamelCamelCamel at its best: one bookshelf tracked since November 2017, lows and highs dated, five range views from 1 month to all-time. Depth of record is not its weakness.

Keepa draws five lines on one graph: Amazon in orange, Buy Box in pink, New in blue, Used in black, Sales Rank in green. White gaps flag out-of-stock periods. The free tier covers charts, the Deals feed, alerts, and the browser extension; Pro adds the seller stack.

Same idea, more signal: price movement and demand movement on one Keepa chart.

Price History Charts: Keepa’s Graph Carries More Lines

A CamelCamelCamel chart answers one question: is this price actually low? A Keepa chart answers that plus a second: does this product actually sell? Its green Sales Rank line moves with demand, so a price drop on a dead listing looks exactly as suspicious as it should.

Freshness differs too. Keepa refreshes a product’s record when you open it if the data is older than about an hour. The CamelCamelCamel product page I checked showed its last scan five hours earlier. For fast-moving Lightning Deal prices, hours matter.

Price Watches and Alerts: CamelCamelCamel Keeps It Simple

CamelCamelCamel wins on friction. Set a target price, confirm the email, done: no account exists unless you want one. Registered users add a watch manager and wishlist import. Keepa’s alerts are also free, but its tracking allowance depends on tier.

  • No account needed: CamelCamelCamel watches are managed from the confirmation email alone.
  • Wishlist import: any public Amazon list gets tracked at one cent under each item’s current price.
  • No published cap: CamelCamelCamel does not advertise a watch limit.
  • Keepa’s free cap: users report tracking now stops around 200 products; Pro raises it to 10,000.

Browser Extensions: The Camelizer Is Aging

Both extensions inject price history straight into Amazon product pages. On Chrome Web Store numbers pulled July 31, 2026, Keepa serves 4,000,000 users at 4.67 stars from 5,117 ratings. The Camelizer serves 800,000 users at 4.30 stars from 1,025 ratings.

The maintenance gap is the real story. Keepa’s extension shipped version 5.62 on July 2, 2026. The Camelizer’s current build, 3.0.16, dates to June 2024, and its own site still lists extension stats from 2020. The Camelizer does cover five browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, and Safari.

Keepa also goes where CamelCamelCamel stopped: phones. It ships iOS and Android apps, while CamelCamelCamel supports no mobile browsers and offers a bookmarklet instead. Neither tool has a meaningful Trustpilot record (41 Keepa reviews, 8 for CamelCamelCamel, both profiles unclaimed), so extension stores are the best public signal available.

Marketplace Coverage: Neither List Contains the Other

Keepa tracks 11 Amazon marketplaces, CamelCamelCamel tracks 8, and neither list is a superset. Both cover the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. CamelCamelCamel alone covers Australia. Keepa alone covers Japan, India, Mexico, and Brazil. Pick by where you actually shop or sell.

CamelCamelCamel used to run a Japan site, but it no longer offers one. It expanded sideways instead: camelmart.com launched in 2026 and applies the same price-history model to Walmart. Keepa stays Amazon-only and goes deeper instead of wider.

Seller Data: Keepa Is the Only Real Option

Arbitrage and wholesale decisions need Sales Rank history, Buy Box behavior, and offer counts. CamelCamelCamel stores none of the three. Keepa Pro covers all of them for €29 a month or €290 a year, tracks 10,000 products, and its Product Finder filters the catalog for bulk research.

Operator scenario: say a wholesale pallet of 120 units hinges on one listing. Keepa’s rank line shows whether its 15,000 BSR held through 12 months or only through Prime Day week. CamelCamelCamel can only tell you the price moved. One bad pallet read costs more than a year of Pro.

Developers get the same split. Keepa sells API plans from €49 a month for 20 tokens per minute, scaling to enterprise rates; my Keepa API token guide breaks down the token math. CamelCamelCamel offers no API at all. If you want charts plus a full seller toolkit in one subscription instead, my Helium 10 vs Keepa matchup covers that jump.

Pricing: Free Against Free, Until You Sell

CamelCamelCamel is free at every level and sells nothing. Keepa’s charts, Deals feed, and alerts are also free. Keepa Pro costs €29 a month or €290 a year, billed in euros only, with no free trial and no coupons. The API is a separate product.

Keepa raised Pro from €19 to €29 in March 2026, so ignore older reviews quoting €19. Plan-by-plan detail sits in my Keepa pricing breakdown. And skip any page selling a Keepa coupon: Keepa has never offered one.

Decision Matrix: Keepa vs CamelCamelCamel vs SmartScout

Three profiles cover almost everyone reading this page. Budget is not the split, since two of the three options start at zero. The split is the job: hunting deals, reading single listings before flipping them, or researching whole brands and categories before committing real money.

  • Choose Keepa if: you flip, arbitrage, or sell and need rank plus Buy Box history. Free to start, €29 a month when the data earns it.
  • Choose CamelCamelCamel if: you shop, want zero-setup email alerts, or buy on Amazon Australia.
  • Choose SmartScout if: single-listing charts stop being enough. My SmartScout review covers its brand-level research from $25 a month, and my SmartScout vs Keepa comparison settles that matchup.

Pros and Cons of Each Tool

Four lists decide most of these matchups faster than any table. Every claim below traces to the official product sites or Chrome Web Store data pulled on July 31, 2026. Weigh the cons by your use: caps hurt sellers, staleness hurts shoppers.

Keepa pros

  • Sales Rank, Buy Box, New, Used, and Amazon history on one chart.
  • 11 marketplaces, including Japan, India, Mexico, and Brazil.
  • Chrome extension at 4.67 stars from 5,117 ratings, updated July 2026.
  • iOS and Android apps mirror alerts and charts on mobile.
  • Product Finder turns the database into bulk research on Pro.
  • API from €49 a month feeds spreadsheets and repricers.

Keepa cons

  • Pro jumped from €19 to €29 a month in March 2026.
  • Billing is EUR only, so USD cards eat conversion fees.
  • No free trial on Pro and no trial tokens on the API.
  • Users report the free tier now tracks only about 200 products.
  • Five-line charts feel busy on first read.

CamelCamelCamel pros

  • Every feature is free; Amazon commissions fund the site.
  • Price watches work without creating an account.
  • Wishlist import tracks a whole public list in one paste.
  • Only tool of the two covering Amazon Australia.
  • Price records run deep; the shelf I checked traced to November 2017.
  • New camelmart.com extends the same model to Walmart.

CamelCamelCamel cons

  • No Sales Rank, Buy Box, stock, or offer-count history.
  • The Camelizer has not shipped an update since June 2024.
  • 8 marketplaces, with Japan, India, Mexico, and Brazil missing.
  • No mobile app, and the extension skips mobile browsers.
  • No API; RSS feeds are the only data export.

Final Verdict: Keepa for Anyone Who Sells, CamelCamelCamel for Simple Alerts

Keepa wins because it does everything CamelCamelCamel does and keeps going. Same free charts and alerts, then Sales Rank, Buy Box, 11 marketplaces, maintained extensions, and mobile apps. CamelCamelCamel still earns its bookmark as the simplest alert tool with genuinely deep price records.

  • Pick Keepa if: your Amazon activity earns money. Start free, add Pro at €29 when rank data pays for itself.
  • Pick CamelCamelCamel if: you want set-and-forget email alerts or shop Amazon Australia.
  • Run both if: you like CamelCamelCamel’s alert emails and Keepa’s charts. The two free tiers stack at exactly zero cost.

Keepa sells no trial, so know what free already includes before paying. My Keepa free trial page walks the free tier and the one-month Pro test.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CamelCamelCamel really free?

Yes, every feature is free. The site earns Amazon affiliate commissions when you click through and buy, and it has run on that model since 2008. There is no premium tier to upsell.

Is Keepa free too?

The charts, Deals feed, alerts, and extension are free. Keepa Pro costs €29 a month or €290 a year and adds Buy Box history, stock data, and Product Finder research. The API is separate, from €49 a month.

Does CamelCamelCamel show Amazon sales rank?

No. It tracks three price lines only. Amazon, third-party New, and third-party Used. Keepa charts include a Sales Rank line, which is the main reason sellers pick it.

Which tool is more accurate?

Both read prices from Amazon itself, so neither invents numbers. Keepa refreshes a product’s record on view once it is about an hour old. The CamelCamelCamel product I checked had last scanned five hours earlier.

Which tool covers Amazon Australia?

Only CamelCamelCamel. Its 8 marketplaces include amazon.com.au. Keepa’s 11 skip Australia but add Japan, India, Mexico, and Brazil. Both cover the US, UK, Canada, and Western Europe.

Can I use Keepa and CamelCamelCamel together?

Yes, and the combo costs nothing. A common setup keeps CamelCamelCamel for set-and-forget email alerts and the Keepa extension for on-page charts with Sales Rank. Both free tiers run side by side.

Is The Camelizer extension safe?

Yes. It holds 4.30 stars from 1,025 Chrome ratings across 800,000 users and never touches your Amazon login. Its last update shipped in June 2024, so expect slower fixes than Keepa’s active build.

Does Keepa offer a free trial or coupon?

No trials and no coupons, ever. Pro bills €29 monthly and cancels any time, so one month is the real test drive. Ignore any site advertising a Keepa discount code.

Does either tool track Walmart prices?

CamelCamelCamel does, since 2026. Its sister site camelmart.com applies the same price-history charts and alerts to Walmart. Keepa remains Amazon-only.
