Etsy bills the $0.20 listing fee and the $100 Offsite Ads cap in USD. This tool shows both at face value, so in a non-USD currency the exact billed amount follows Etsy's exchange rate. For US sellers the 6.5% transaction fee is not charged on sales tax. Etsy Plus ($10/mo) and Pattern ($15/mo) are optional subscriptions, not per-sale fees. Refunds, shipping labels, and income tax are not included.

How to use this Etsy fee calculator

This Etsy fee calculator itemizes every fee on one sale from the price, shipping, and gift wrap the buyer pays. Pick your country, mark whether the sale came from an Offsite Ad, then add your product and shipping costs to see the net deposit, true profit, and margin.

  • Enter what the buyer pays in the first three fields. Etsy fees apply to that total.
  • Use the 15% Offsite Ads rate below $10,000 USD in past-365-day sales and 12% at or above it.
  • Use the copy button to share the exact scenario without retyping the numbers.

Etsy fees at a glance

Etsy charges three fees on a standard sale: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee, and Etsy Payments processing. Three more apply in specific cases: a regulatory operating fee in nine countries, an Offsite Ads fee on ad-attributed sales, and a 2.5% currency conversion fee.

What a $25 Etsy sale really pays

A US seller charging $25 for an item and $4.50 for shipping collects a $29.50 order. Etsy takes $0.20 for the listing, $1.92 in transaction fee, and $1.14 in processing, a total of $3.25 or 11% of the order. The deposit is $26.25 before product and shipping costs.

The effective rate falls as the order grows because the $0.20 listing fee and the $0.25 processing fixed fee stay flat. An $8 digital download pays 15.1% in fees while a $162 order pays 9.8%, using the same three US rates.

Etsy payment processing fees by country

Etsy Payments processing is set by your bank country. The percentage applies to the order total including shipping, plus a fixed fee in your currency. For Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, the rates below cover domestic orders; other international orders process at 4% instead.

The Offsite Ads fee: 15% or 12%

Etsy runs Offsite Ads for your listings and charges a fee only when a sale is attributed to one of those ads. Shops under $10,000 USD in sales over the past 365 days pay 15% and can opt out. Shops at $10,000 or more pay 12%, participation is mandatory, and the 12% rate keeps for the life of the shop.

The fee applies to the item price plus shipping and gift wrap and is capped at $100 per order. On the $29.50 example order, a 15% attribution adds $4.43 and moves the effective fee rate from 11% to 26%. Price ad-attributed sales with that swing in mind.

Regulatory fees, currency conversion, and subscriptions

Nine countries add a regulatory operating fee as a percentage of item price plus shipping and gift wrap: Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, Italy 0.80%, India 0.05%, Spain 0.88%, Türkiye 1.67%, the United Kingdom 0.48%, and Vietnam 1.24%.

Currency conversion costs 2.5% whenever the listing currency differs from your payout currency, so listing in your payout currency avoids the fee entirely. Etsy Plus at $10 per month and Pattern at $15 per month are optional subscriptions and never appear in per-sale fee math.

What the estimate leaves out

The result estimates Etsy fees and per-sale profit, not complete business profit. Sales tax and VAT that Etsy collects from the buyer are excluded because they sit on top of your listed price. Costs beyond the two cost fields are excluded too.

  • Refunds and cases: not modeled; run the numbers on the sales you expect to keep.
  • Shipping labels and packaging: enter what you actually pay in the shipping cost field so profit stays honest.
  • Shop set-up fee: Etsy says it varies by location and publishes no single amount, so it is not estimated here.
  • Multi-quantity orders: each additional item sold renews the $0.20 listing fee; this tool prices one item per order.

How to keep more of each Etsy sale

Three of the six fees are avoidable or controllable. Offsite Ads participation is optional below $10,000 USD in past-365-day sales. The 2.5% conversion fee disappears when listings use your payout currency. And because two fees are flat, larger orders always carry a lower effective rate.

The unavoidable core is $0.20 plus 6.5% plus your country's processing rate. For US sellers that is about 9.5% plus $0.45 on a standard sale, before any optional fees. If your margin cannot absorb that, the fix is the price, not the fee settings.
