That said, AMZScout is not useless for the Australian marketplace; it is just too barebones to justify the cost.
For instance, you can still use it for niche overview via the Chrome extension or get some of the top products or niche keywords via its tools. However, you wouldn’t know which keywords are most searched in Australia or get relevant metrics, such as CPC data and keyword trend info.
All these constitute the backbone of robust product, competition, and niche landscape research. Without this information, you might be targeting the wrong niches.
For instance, I researched “selfie sticks” in the Amazon AU marketplace, and AMZScout returned that it’s a unique niche since most of its users hadn’t explored that before.
This is misleading, given that the selfie stick niche is big in Australia, but AMZScout gave that result since most people don’t use its tools for that marketplace yet.
Without such context, any other user might have invested in that niche based on the earlier information alone. It might be challenging to break even, at the minimum, after making such a mistake.
