Both Helium 10 and Viral Launch have top-of-the-line tools for Amazon sellers. Helium 10 gives you more tools for your subscription cost. But, Viral Launch has some of the best automated tools I’ve seen.
Which tool you choose depends on what your needs are. If you’re just looking for product and keyword research and PPC automation, then Viral Launch is perfect for you.
But, if you need additional tools like inventory management and financial analysis, then you would be better off with Helium 10.
So, let’s look at what tasks can be performed with both Helium 10 and Viral Launch.
#1: PPC Automation
PPC automation is handled very differently by Viral Launch compared to Helium 10. While Viral Launch automates your PPC campaigns, Helium 10 just manages them.
Kinetic By Viral Launch
Kinetic is a comprehensive tool. It allows you to maximize your profits with your ad campaigns.
You start by creating customized rules from various templates. You can set these rules to update automatically or you can manually update them.
Plus, Kinetic shows you if your sales are coming from organic search or your ad campaigns. The tool also allows you to prioritize high-converting keywords. This means you’re not paying for keywords that are not converting.

#2: Product Research
Xray Chrome Extension By Helium 10
The Xray chrome extension is an excellent tool. It allows you to do your product research directly on an Amazon search page. It gives you all the data you need, to decide whether a category is worth selling in.
I ran a test using the search term “kitchen storage”. As you can see from the results, this category is very competitive. Therefore, you’d want to niche down further to find a less competitive sub-category.
Black Box By Helium 10
Black Box is a comprehensive product search tool. It allows you to select many different parameters. I took it for a test run using the category “Kitchen & Dining”. Some other parameters I set were:
- Monthly Revenue – $100 to $100,000
- Review Count – 1 to 50
- Number of Sellers – 2 to 10
- Title Keyword Search – Kitchen storage

I think this is an excellent tool for conducting extensive product research.

Trendster By Helium 10
Besides the 2 product research tools above, Helium 10 also has a tool called Trendster. This allows you to analyze products via Google Trends to see whether they are seasonal.
Product Discovery By Viral Launch

Let’s take a look at these in more detail.
Magnet By Helium 10
I decided to do a test with Magnet using our previous keyword “kitchen storage”.
Here’s what a snapshot of the results looks like:
As you can see, this search produced a large number of results. But, it does give you a starting point to narrow down the list. Filtering by the Magnet IQ score would be a good start. The higher the score, the higher the search volume and the lower the competition.
You can also use the keywords in the “word frequency” box to narrow down your search. This will allow you to come up with the best keywords for your listing.
Cerebro By Helium 10
This is a reverse ASIN lookup tool. It’s linked directly from Magnet but is also a stand-alone tool.
To test it out, I clicked on the first ASIN in Magnet’s results in the “frequently bought together” box.
This search brought back a result of over 9,000 keywords.
The Cerebro IQ score works the same as Magnet’s IQ score.
So, this would be a good way to narrow down your keyword list.
Misspellinator By Helium 10
This tool helps you to find commonly misspelled keywords on Amazon. It’s a fairly simple tool that also identifies Amazon auto corrections. This is handy to know so that you don’t waste your advertising dollars on those words.
I put the words “kitchen storage” into the tool. I found that most misspellings of “kitchen” were auto-corrected by Amazon.
Keyword Research By Viral Launch
This tool searches the entire Amazon marketplace to find search terms that customers are looking for. It does this by doing a reverse-market look-up. This gives you actual keywords that customers are searching for,

Both of these rely on finding competitor ASINs and then analyzing them.

Market Tracker requires you to choose a niche market. You then enter up to 5 keywords. Select some of the ASINs of products in your niche market.
Market Tracker then goes to work and brings back relevant results every week.
Here’s a test I did a little while back on the “Gourmet Chocolate Market”.
When I clicked on “suggestions”, this is what came up.
As you can see, the tool collects the most relevant keywords and their search volume. It then also identifies products within that market. The product score (0-100) shows how well the product is ranking for the most popular keywords. The higher the score the better.
This is great for Amazon sellers who use the wholesale or arbitrage models.
It can help you identify popular products within a certain market niche.

This will help you to identify keywords that are being underutilized by your competitors. The tool also allows you to track these words including any change in rank.

For optimizing your listings, Helium 10 has a total of 4 tools that may be useful.
Viral Launch, on the other hand, has both a listing analyzer tool and a listing builder.

On-Page Evaluation By Helium 10
I really like the On-Page Evaluation Chrome extension. It lets you see instantly how well optimized any listing is.
I chose a product on Amazon in the “kitchen storage” niche to show you how this tool works.
As you can see, this listing gets a score of 8.14 out of 10. The tool identifies what needs to be done to fully optimize this listing. I really like the simplicity of this. And, the fact that it gives you actionable tasks to improve the listing.
Frankenstein By Helium 10
Frankenstein helps you to clean up your keywords. This means that you only use the most relevant ones in your listing.
